If you are experiencing issues while streaming to EventLive using OBS Studio, follow these steps to identify and fix the problem.

Step 1: Check Your Internet Connection

  • Make sure your upload speed is at least 3-5 Mbps for a stable stream.

  • If your upload speed is low, your stream may be choppy or buffer for viewers.

  • Test your internet speed at the venue before your event.

  • If possible, use a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi for better stability.

Important: Poor internet connection is the most common cause of choppy or pixelated streams.

Step 2: Review Your OBS Studio Settings

  • Open OBS Studio and go to your stream settings.

  • Set your bitrate according to your internet speed:

  • For 1080p streaming, use a bitrate of 5000-6000 kbps if your connection allows.

  • If your connection is slow, lower the bitrate (but not below 1000 kbps).

  • Make sure your settings match the recommendations in this article.

Step 3: Restart OBS Studio

  • If your stream is paused or not starting, close and reopen OBS Studio.

  • Start the stream again after restarting.

Step 4: Check the RTMP Settings

  • Make sure you are using the correct RTMP URL and stream key from the EventLive Broadcaster Console: https://broadcaster.eventlive.pro/

  • Double-check for any typos or extra spaces.

Step 5: Monitor Stream Health

  • Watch for dropped frames or error messages in OBS Studio.

  • If you see pixelation or buffering, try lowering the bitrate and restarting the stream.

  • Move to a location with a stronger internet signal if possible.

Step 6: Understand Stream Delay

  • A delay of 5-20 seconds is normal for all streaming platforms using RTMP.

  • Lowering the bitrate will not reduce the delay.

  • The delay helps ensure smooth streaming for all viewers.

Step 7: Check for Platform Outages

  • If your stream is working in OBS but viewers cannot see it, there may be a temporary outage on EventLive’s side.

  • In this case, EventLive will work to restore your stream and may upload the full video for on-demand viewing.

Additional Tips

  • Always test your stream before your event using the same internet connection and equipment.

  • If you have issues, send a screenshot of your OBS settings (bitrate, resolution, etc.) to EventLive support for help.

  • If you are at a venue with limited internet, try to find the best possible spot for signal strength.
