What to Do If Your Livestream Fails to Connect

If you are the host of the event and use EventLive app:

  1. Check the top left corner of the app to make sure the app is connected and says "Good Signal"

  2. If the app keeps saying "Connecting" and could not connect, this means the phone is either not connected to the internet or the upload speed on location is very poor and the app cannot connect to our servers. Try pausing the live stream and connecting to another internet source (wifi, mobile data, hotspot, etc.)

If you are the host of the event and streaming via RTMP:

  1. Check your internet connection and make sure you are connected to the internet.

  2. Check the stream key and the server information are correct.

  3. Please keep in mind that the event's stream key only becomes active one hour before your scheduled event time. Until then, you can use our free test events by clicking the Test Live button in the Broadcaster console and finding a test stream key that starts with TEST.

If you are the viewer / guest invited to the live stream:

  1. Confirm the Stream Has Started

  2. If you see a message like "waiting for the host" the host hasn't started the live stream yet.

  3. Wait a few minutes and refresh the page.

  4. If you can see the LIVE symbol but cannot see the video, the host might be having connection / internet problems on location. Please wait or contact the host.

  5. If the stream will not load, try opening the link on a different device (phone, tablet, or computer).

  6. Try a different web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox).

  7. If you are using a Wi-Fi only device (like some iPads), make sure you have a strong and stable Wi-Fi signal.

Important Notes

  • If you do not have the event link, only the event host can provide it.

  • If the stream is not live yet, you will not be able to view it until the host starts it.

  • Internet connection issues are the most common cause of livestream problems.


Additional Tips

  • If you are helping guests connect, remind them to check their internet connection and use the correct link.

  • If you are a host, monitor your stream from a second device to make sure it is live and working.
