What to do when your local backup is not recording

Written by Julia Eskin

Live streaming and saving a local backup are separate. Your event can be live even if the phone is not recording a backup.

Before going live

  1. Check free space on your phone and allow enough room for the whole event.

  2. Run a free test with the same device and recording settings.

  3. Check the live status and local recording indicator separately.

  4. Finish the test and confirm that the backup can be opened.

If you see a local-recording warning

Check whether the live stream is still working before interrupting it. A recording warning does not necessarily mean viewers have lost the video. Low storage or an unsupported recording setting can prevent a local file from being saved.

During a live event, do not leave the app or restart the phone just to clear a warning unless you are prepared for an interruption. If practical, plan a safe pause or switch to another tested broadcasting device after stopping the first.

After the event

Check what was saved locally and what reached EventLive. The server recording cannot include video that was never transmitted. If a local backup has better or missing footage, use the event’s Manage Video options to upload it, carefully choosing whether to add or replace footage.

Keep original files until you have checked the result. If you need help, send support the event link, device model, approximate time of the warning and its wording.

Run a Test Live event to see how many hours of footage your phone can record. Tap that indicator to see how many GB of storage remain. EventLive stops local recording when free storage reaches 1 GB, leaving space so the phone does not become severely full. Check the local recording indicator separately from the live status.
