You do not need Wi-Fi to live stream with EventLive. You can use your mobile data connection, and in many cases, it works better than Wi-Fi.
How to Stream Using Mobile Data
Make sure your phone or tablet has an active mobile data plan (3G, 4G, or 5G).
Check that you have a strong signal in your location.
Open the EventLive app on your device.
Use our Test Live button (free tests) to check your connection on location.
Important Notes
Mobile data often works better than Wi-Fi, especially in places where Wi-Fi is crowded or the router is far away.
A good 4G or 5G connection is best for live streaming.
Data Usage
Streaming with EventLive uses up to 1GB of data per hour.
Actual data usage may be less, depending on your device and connection.
Make sure your data plan has enough data for the length of your event.
If your data runs out or your connection drops, the stream may stop.
Troubleshooting Tips
If Your Connection Is Weak
Move to a location with better cell service.
Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see which is stronger.
If your stream buffers or cuts out, the video is still saved on your phone. You can upload it to your EventLive page after the event.
If You Are Using a Portable Wi-Fi Device
Make sure the device has a strong signal and enough data.
Portable Wi-Fi works well, but direct mobile data from your phone is often more reliable.
Warnings and Recommendations
Always check your data plan before streaming. Unlimited or high-data plans are best for longer events. Keep in mind that some "unlimited" data plans use throttling after a certain amount of data usage.
If you are streaming an important event (like a wedding or funeral), test your connection in advance.
If you lose connection, your viewers may experience buffering, but your video will be saved locally if you are using your phone.
Additional Tips
Mobile data is usually more reliable than public or crowded Wi-Fi networks.
For the best experience, use a device with a good camera and a strong data connection.
